Young Star . . . Selena. © Mary Clark

There once lived a young star,
known by people near and far.
She had a great smile,
nothing about her was vile.
This young star had a terrific voice,
for best star, she was a wonderful choice.
The star was as beautiful as a rose,
I don't see why she would have had foes.
But, she came to an untimely end,
it was like losing a friend.
I, like others, will never forget her,
the young star touched us forever.
Her name . . . Selena.

Oh Selena. © Mary Clark

Oh Selena, how I think of you,
it makes me so blue.
You were a wonderful star,
to me, you're never far.
Your smile was bright,
it was like a light.
Oh Selena, you had great singing,
it was as pretty as a ring.
You've really touched my life,
what happened is more painful than a knife.
Oh Selena, I can't pick a favorite song,
it would take too long.
Oh Selena, I also get mad a lot,
I feel myself get hot.
What happened was so absurd,
it was the last thing you deserved.
Oh Selena, I often think of you,
and somehow I know you think of me too.

2nd tribute:

The following was sent to me via a feedback email about my site. The fan's name is Raquel and she is from Brazil. Here is her tribute to Selena, in spanish, as it was sent to me. Any errors you may see were in the original.

3rd tribute:

This tribute was sent to me via the email link at the bottom of this page, from a fan named Raquel Real. Though it may be short, it's to the point and says what we feel.

Selena

Selena the star, the beauty, the hard worker, the talented singer and designer that still lives in our hearts even though she is no longer with us. We love and respect her and most importantly we admire her. We love her and always will, Selena

The follwoing was sent to me via email from this page. It isn't in poetic verse, but simply little something a fan wanted to say.

A Death

Selena's death was like a quick rain shower that just happend and then went away. Her death was such a shock to millions of her fans around the world who loved her & her tejano sound, nd she loved all of her fans. If Selena Quintanilla-Pérez had lived on, She would of went far with her music, doing more concerts, and making more videos. She would of been on more magazine covers, books, and newspapers. Selena and Chris would of been married and would of had kids, and the other things that Selena dreamed of.

Her dreams were to become a singer of course, and to open up her own clothing stores & salons. Selena wanted her clothing stores to be has big has a mall. Selena wanted to do more things but she never got the chance. Her death ended everything, her voice & her other dreams. Selena loved her fans and she was a great person. I miss her and wish she was still alive. Selena will be missed.

The follwoing was sent to me via email. Again, it isn't in poetic verse, but simply little something a fan wanted to say.

A Love

Selena and Chris had a strong love, they had a everlasting love
Selena and Chris loved each other until she died on March 31, 1995

They were only married 3 years at the time but if Selena Quintanilla-Pérez didn't die, Selena and Chris would of still been together. They would of been married for a long time but she didn't live long enough to still be married to her first love, Chris Pérez. Selena didn't even have a change to become a mom. She wanted to have kids, she loved children and Selena wanted to crossover (into the English market) and when she finished 'Dreaming of You' she would of recorded a new english album. She died so young. Selena will always be missed. I miss her a lot. If Selena was still alive, she would have had children when she was 27 or 28 years old, but she didn't live to reach 24. When she was shot to death, it stopped her music and her life. When she was shot it was a shock to millions of her fans and her beloved family and I am sure that Abie, Suzette and Chris are still taking her passing really hard. I know that Chris remarried and he is a father of two, I believe that he still misses her. He loved her very much and she loved him.

Idol

Selena Quintanilla-Pérez was a great idol to millions of young latina girls who looked up to her.
Selena was loved by millions around the world. Selena never knew how many people loved her.

Besides Corpus Christi, Selena was loved by millions of people worldwide and Selena was a great idol for girls to look up to. If Selena didn't die she would be probably visiting millions of her loving fans but the tejano super star singer and idol only lived for 23 years of her life. I know it has been 10 years since her horrible passing, but I feel like Selena died yesterday. Selena was the biggest idol in the U.S. Latin market. Selena was a great singer that the music world got to know. Her famliy and friends had time with Selena before her horrible death. Selena was a very popular tejano singer to the world.

A Concert

Selena always did sold out concerts through out Texas and Mexico and she always looked really nice in all of her stage outfits. On her last concert, one month before she was killed, Selena wore her beautiful purple disco pants suit with a matching jacket and her earrings selena made her self. Selena had lipstick on her microphone because she held it close to her mouth during her concerts. She always made her own stage oufits to wear on stage sometimes she made matching oufits for the band as well and sometimes she wore her stage oufits or sometimes Selena just wore jeans and a shirt. She wore anything she wanted to wear and when she wore a skirt she wore pantyhose all of the time because a lot of her skirts were short. If she didn't die then she would have been more bigger now then she was while she was still alive 10 years ago. If Selena was still living then she would do all of the lead singing of los dinos. Selena would be singing all of her hits at the Selena Vive concert on April 7, 2005 but when she sang "Como La Flor", all of her fans there would probably be very shocked to see Selena on screen again and millions of Selena fans around the world would probably be crying while they watched the Selena Vive concert.

A Concert

The last concert Selena wore her purple pants suit with a matching jacket.
Selena came into the Houston Astromode on a white carrage.
Selena had her microphone in her hand.
Selena walked on to the stage with her microphone.
Selena put her micprohone to her mouth and she said "How ya doing Houston, Texas?"
Her fans stood up and clapped for her when she said that.
And then she took a breath and sang the first note.
She danced around the the stage.

A White Rose

Selena's life was like a beaufitul white rose
And when she died, a beaufitul white rose died at age of only 23.

Selena was as beaufitul as a rose, and when Selena died, a beautiful white rose with a leaves on the end of it it fell apart after she died.

And in the movie when Jennifer, as Selena Quintanilla-Pérez, was singing Dreaming of You in her dream, right before 'Dreaming of You' ended, a fan threw a white rose on the stage. It was like her life ended when that rose was thrown on the stage and Selena is still a white rose.

you were an angel sent from above
your music touched many.
entertaining you were born to do..
I just wish you were still here to see all your dreams come true!
pluse no one did it quiet like you!!!

(Chorus)

if i could hear your voice just one more time, i would be so happy,
if i could see you on that stage singing and dancing just having a real good time, i know i would smile
you don't know how much we miss you down here, but i hope you know i'll always remember
your beautiful smile........
if i had just one wish, i would wish for you to sing again,
your voice was silenced, but your spirit still lives through your fans

(repeat Chorus)

Bridge:
your memory still lives on i hope you know that
we'll always remember your beauty, you smile, and remember your voice

A Song

Selena always sang beafitul songs. Her music died like yesterdays clouds. Selena had a golden voice that will never die. Throughout the world millons of her fans will love Selena Q Perez and her music forever. Selena will be missed throughout the world. Millons of people loved her very much. Selena was more famous than she knew. People around the world loved her and she didn't live long a enough to do a world tour. Selena did concerts through Texas and Mexcio and when Selena and her music died it was like a big shock to millons of fans who loved and liked her but never meet her and never had a chance to say good bye. Selena did a last concert on 2-26-95 one month before her day of death on 3-31-95. Selena's life was like a white dove with wings that lived for 23 years of her life and died in the middle of her singing career. Selena didn't get to take her tejano sound too far. Selena didn't live a long life to do everything Selena dreamed about. Having kids and other dreams also. Selena was a great latina singer, her fans looked up to her has a role model that rose to become a singer and became rich. Selena became a idol for MexcianAmecians throughout the world. She was a singer and a friend and a sister and other things. To her fans she was a singer for the people of her culture. I believe this that Selena Quintanilla Perez will live now and for years after. Now Selena's songs are always playing by her fans who play her cds and watch her music videos.

Selena

Selena was like a beaufitul sunset and her voice was a like waterfall and the music of her bandmates was like beaufitul ocean waves and Selena's voice is still an echo in the sky. Selena is a beaufitul angel now with wings and Selena and her voice and music were destroyed by a single bullet. That gun shot destroyed everything that Selena wanted and dreamed about. Selena and Chris wanted children but when Selena was shot their dream was destroyed and everything else that they wanted and she hoped for was torn apart when she died. Selena and Chris were very happy when they were together and married and all of a sudden, when Selena Quintanilla Perez was shot, it was like such a shock to her fans and friends and family.

A Voice

Selena had a golden voice after her death her voice still echos in the sky where Selena is watching over her fans and other people that she loved in her short life. On Selena's cds, her voice still sings 10 years after her passing. Her voice still sounds beaufitul. Her voice still sings down from heaven where she is an angel with wings. Selena still sings in heaven where she is a beaufitul angel with wings. When she used to record her music with her golden voice. During her recording days in the studio where Selena used to sing, her voice used to echo in the studio and when she recorded her album "Dreaming Of You", her voice sounded so beaufitul and the music sounded beaufitul too. Her voice died when she died.

Another contribution from a Selena fan, though the author is unknown.

Selena was a talented female tejano singer with a great voice and a beaufitul smile,

She won the hearts of her loving fans throughout the world.

Selena gave her fans and the music world a special gift her music,

and she had a wonderful sense of humor.

She was always laughing and she was always smiling.

She always smiled for the carmera and waved to her fans and when she did a concert.

She belonged to her fans everytime she did a concert and when she died everything stopped.

When her heart stopped, her music and everything else stopped.

For 20 years selena gave the world a chance to hear her music and voice.

A golden voice that ended with the sorrow.

With her Tejano sound and her laughter and her beatuy,

Selena Quintanilla-Pérez gave the world a special gift her music,

For 20 years, Selena Quintanilla gave her beaufitul recordings, music and her voice.

Selena recorded her last songs and her last CD ever, and her last concert,

Selena recorded Dreaming of You 3 weeks before she was killed.

Selena and her band played one more time before she was gone in Houston at the Astrodome,

She wore her beaufitul purple pantsuit with matching jacket, silver high heel boots, crystal earrings and a silver diamond ring and she sang her heart out and a month later she was gone.

A Dream

Selena had a dream and she made it come true, but Selena did become an idol and a singer for her people and Selena loved to sing but she also had more dreams. She wanted to be a actress and to own her own boutiques and salon. She did open her own clothing stores and salon and other dream was to have kids, but she didn't live long a enough to become a mom and to realize that her only English CD 'Dreaming of You sold tons of copies and the first song that she recorded 'I Could Fall In Love' became a smash hit. One month before she died, Selena did her last live concert ever in Houston and a year before her passing she did 'Amor Prohibido'. If she lived her life then she would of become a pop singing icon as well as a Tejano singing icon. Selena would have made a great pop singer. When she finally recorded 'Dreaming of You', her voice sounded beaufitul while she was singing in english

An Idol

Selena Quintanilla was such a wonderful role model for young latina girls throughout the world. Selena was loved by millions and when she passed away her fans lost two things; a great superstar singer and a great role model. The music world lost a beaufitul singer and very beaufitul Tejano musician. She an idol for only a short period of time. She was the only female idol for her people for only 23 years of her life if she lived then she would have also became a pop singing icon and she would of also been a Tejano icon too. She lived her dream and she was an idol in the latin community. She started out singing in spanish first. She became very famous in the latin community, her spanish music was so beaufitul and she would have been a great pop singing icon and Selena's fans still love her and miss her and she will always remain a fallen idol.

She was only 23 years old she never had the chance to see the world. I wish she was alive because she would have gotten more time with the people she loved. I watched selena's tribute last night and I wanted to cry. I still can't believe she 's gone. I love selena she was an inspiration to me and others. A few words from Carl Williams in Indianapolis, IN. Plus some pictures.

I can remember 3-31-95, like it was yesterday. It was, in fact, my cousins birthday. I did not know a lot about Selena at that time. But when her murder, and it was cold blooded murder, was shown in the newspapers and on television, being the inquisitive person I am, I began trying to learn as much about her as I could. Let me just say this, I am not weird, a stalker, obsessed, or anything like that. But I have never, ever, in my 56 years had someone's music, story, etc, touch my SOUL and Heart as Selena's has done. I never got to see her in person, I have the last concert on dvd, and I watch it almost every single day, I have 8 of her cd's, all the winamp skins I can find, my checking account are selena checks, based on a photograph I downloaded from one of the websites. I have seen the movie, I have that on dvd also, Jennifer Lopez, came as close to the real thing, as I have ever seen. Yes, Selena Quintanilla Perez was a drop dead georgeously beautiful woman. That is not what attracted me to her. It was her story, her music, that touched my soul. I am not afraid to tell people, that in my small way, I was, I am, and will forever be a Selena fan. As a matter of fact, I am having built right now, what I think will be the worlds first computer, dedicated to Selena, I have included a couple pictures. When it is completed, and has arrived at my home, I am going to send pictures of this computer to Abraham and Selena's family. Not expecting any acknowledgement of any kind, but to show them, in this small way, I am paying my respects and honor her life. Every time I watch the last concert, or listen to he cd's, particularly Como La Flor (because it was the last song she ever sang in concert, I believe), and, I could fall in love, I can not hold back my emotion. Selena, had she lived, would be just as popular to this day, as she was back then. I truly believe, she would have (no disrespect intended) supassed Gloria Estefan in both popularity and sales of music. She was truly a gift from god if ever there was one, and will have a place in my heart and soul until the day I quit breathing. Who knows, maybe then I will be able to walk up to her, and say "Thank you so very much."
On a closing note, I just found out recently, that in the movie, the last scenes of the murder, were actual, and not filmed. That was truly her on the stretcher, and when I found out, my heart broke again.

I just wanted to remind everyone that Heaven sent us an Angel...But we sented back a star. Yet it is seen better to be an Angel..A star is the closest thing to Heaven we can see from this tiny little plant. Yet an Angel she is danceing in Heaven. Above the stars. Selena is dearly missed there isn't a day that I don't listen to one of her C-D's and just wish I could have seen her preform just once. But I livee happly knowin that I lived durning her life time. . . And get the honor of seeing and hearing those who know her it's the next best thing. I can only imagine where she would be adn wht she would have done by this time in her life. Now a little something from Debra.

I just finished watching the movie Selena for the 10th time. No matter how many times I see it tears continue to roll down my face. Even though I didnt personally know Selena I could feel that she was a sweet, kind and caring person I really felt as if I knew her all my life. My heart goes out to her family, the loss of a child is unbearable I couldn't even imagine. My prayers go out to your whole family. I am deeply sorry that this happened to her and I wish their was more that I could say or do. She was a beautiful young woman. Please know that she is watching over all of you like an angel that she was. Please know that your daughter was loved by a lot of people and I just wish that I had the opportunity to see her live in concert but rest assured I will by her music. May god bless you and your family once again I am sorry for your loss.
